Dr. Iyampillai Arun, DVM, PA - "I'm a pet owner too"

Dr. Arun has over 33 years of veterinary practice experience.  He was born in Sri Lanka a small Island similar to Hawaii.  Dr. Arun graduated from Madras Veterinary College in 1978. From 1984 to 1986, he worked as an Instructor, Department of Clinical Sciences Section Theriogenology and Canine Reproductive Associate, Department of Physiology at New York State College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York before moving to Florida.

Realizing his calling was for the care of sick animals and preventing diseases, he moved to Florida in 1986 and  practiced as an Emergency Clinician at the Pet Emergency Center, in Ft. Lauderdale and also at Ramblewood Animal Hospital, in Coral Springs.

After building a reputation for veterinary medical excellence, Dr. Arun established Summit Blvd. Animal Hospital, Laser Surgery and Pet Dental Center in 1987. With his extensive background in animal reproduction, Dr. Arun also oversees the Florida Animal Reproductive Center and Frozen Semen Bank. In 2009, to thank the community he lives and work Dr. Arun, built a brand new hurricane ready animal hospital building on Summit Boulevard that will allow him to shelter and care for the local pet population during any hurricane. 

Dr. Arun is a published author of numerous articles on pet healthcare and also scientific research articles on reproduction and exotic pets.

Continuing education is a very important aspect of Dr. Arun's practice. Besides having specialized training in reproduction and Dentistry, Dr. Arun continues to expand his knowledge. In addition to attending several general continuing education meetings such as the North American Veterinary Conference, Western Veterinary Conference, Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care conference, American Veterinary Dental Society, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and Society for Theriogenology. Dr. Arun also has attended special continuing education in such areas as exotic pet medicine and surgery, animal dentistry, veterinary endodontics, oral and maxillofacial reconstructive surgery, advanced surgical procedures with advanced stapling techniques and laser surgery, advanced surgical Ophthalmology training at Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, Canada.

Dr. Arun was a volunteer fire fighter in Ithaca, New York, and also served on the Board of Land Development, Village of Palm Springs, Florida and Board of Palm Beach County-Center for Information and Crisis services. Dr. Arun was one of the founding member of Palm Beach County chapter of Amnesty International.
